Spacing high-bay fixtures

High-bay lighting covers tall industrial and warehouse spaces, and spacing depends on mounting height, the fixture’s beam angle, and the light level and uniformity you need. A common starting rule expresses spacing as a spacing-to-mounting-height ratio — often around 1:1 to 1.5:1 for good uniformity, meaning fixtures roughly as far apart as they are high, tightened where you need even light down narrow aisles.

Beam angle drives the choice: narrow-beam high-bays concentrate light for very tall ceilings and aisle lighting, while wide-beam fixtures suit lower mounting and open floors. Match the light level to the task (bulk storage needs far less than packing or inspection), aim for good vertical illuminance so workers can read shelf labels, and verify the final grid with a photometric layout rather than spacing alone, since racks change real-world coverage.
