Convert between seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years. Enter a value and pick the units.
Usage Tip
For precise spans such as billing periods or ages, count actual calendar days rather than converting from an average month or year.
result = value × (from factor ÷ to factor)
For exact calendar spans, use a date calculator instead.
For exact day counts between dates, use a date or age calculator.
1 day = 86,400 seconds; 1 week = 604,800 seconds.
Seconds, minutes, hours, days, and weeks have fixed relationships, with 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day, and 7 days in a week. Months and years are less exact, because months have between 28 and 31 days and a year is about 365.25 days on average.
For payroll, project plans, and billing, check how your organization counts a month, since conversions that use an average month length will not match the calendar exactly. Time conversions that cross daylight saving changes or leap years can also be off by an hour or a day. For precise date arithmetic, use a date calculator instead of converting to average units.
