Find how many parts a process can realistically finish in a shift, from per-part cycle time and the time actually available.
Units per shift = floor(available time / cycle time). Available time should already exclude breaks, planned maintenance, and other downtime, not the full clock-on-to-clock-off shift length.
How it works
Dividing the real available run time by the cycle time per part gives a straightforward capacity number. The accuracy of the result depends entirely on using actual available time, not nominal shift length, since unplanned stops are not part of this simple calculation.
FAQ
How is this different from OEE? This is a best-case capacity number from cycle time alone. OEE additionally accounts for availability losses, performance losses, and quality losses to give a more realistic actual output figure.
