Wheel travel is how far a wheel moves vertically from full compression to full droop. It equals the shock stroke multiplied by the motion ratio, which accounts for the shock being mounted inboard of the wheel. More travel and a generous droop split keep tires on the ground over uneven terrain, which is what flex and articulation are really about.

What Wheel Travel Means

Wheel travel is the vertical distance a single wheel can move between full compression and full droop. It is the foundation of articulation: the more a wheel can reach down into a hole or up over a rock while its partners stay loaded, the more grip you keep. The Role of Motion Ratio
