Ball bands list a yarn yardage for a given weight. Use that ratio to convert grams of yarn into yards, so you can estimate how much a project leftover or stash skein holds.
What the terms mean
| Symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Yards | Yardage you have or need |
| W | Weight of yarn, in grams |
| Yᵇ | Ball-band yardage |
| Wᵇ | Ball-band weight, in grams |
Worked example
A ball band reads 220 yards per 100 g. A 60 g leftover holds 60 × (220 ÷ 100) = 132 yards.
