Find the value at a given percentile of a data set. Enter the numbers and the percentile.
Usage Tip
Percentiles describe relative standing: scoring in the 90th percentile means you did better than 90 percent of the group.
Value found by interpolating between ranked data points
The 50th percentile is the median; the 25th and 75th are the quartiles.
This uses linear interpolation between ranked values.
The minimum, median, and maximum are shown for context.
A percentile tells you the value below which a given percentage of the data falls. The 50th percentile is the median, the 25th and 75th are the quartiles, and the 90th percentile marks the point that 90 percent of the values do not exceed. Percentiles are common in test scores, growth charts, and performance measurements.
There is more than one accepted way to calculate percentiles, especially when the position falls between two data points, so results can differ slightly between this calculator and other software. The difference is usually small for large data sets but can be noticeable for small ones. Enter the percentile as a number from 0 to 100, not as a fraction.
