Sphere Calculator

Find the volume, surface area, and diameter of a sphere from its radius. Enter the radius.

Volume
cu units
Of the sphere.

Usage Tip

Doubling a sphere’s radius multiplies its volume by eight (2 cubed).

THE MATH
volume = (4 ÷ 3) × π × radius³
surface area = 4 × π × radius²
A sphere is the set of points a fixed distance from a center in three dimensions.
It encloses the most volume for the least surface area of any shape.
Volume grows with the cube of the radius; surface area with the square.
Enter the radius; diameter is twice that.
Volume is in cubic units, surface in square units.
