How much yarn for a 12-inch amigurumi?
In worsted-weight cotton worked tight, plan on roughly 500–650 yards for a 12-inch plush. Bulky chenille or velvet covers the same size in fewer yards but uses more skeins.
What is the best yarn for plushies?
Worsted cotton gives crisp, defined stitches and holds shape well. Chenille and velvet are wonderfully soft and hide imperfections, but they are slippery to work and show stitch definition less.
How much stuffing do I need?
Stuffing scales with size: a small 5-inch piece needs about 1.5–2 oz of polyfill, while a 10-inch plush needs roughly 6–7 oz. Stuff firmly so the shape holds.
Cotton vs chenille for amigurumi?
Cotton is crisp, durable and beginner-friendly. Chenille is plush and cuddly but harder to see stitches in and easier to split, so it is usually better once you are comfortable counting stitches by feel.
