Usage Tip

Slim, flocked hangers can boost capacity 30 to 50% over bulky hangers. Group long items in one full-height section and double-hang the rest.

THE MATH
Capacity = usable rod length ÷ space per garment
Double-hang doubles usable rod for short items
Shirts ≈ 1 in, pants 1.5 in, dresses 2 in, suits 2.5 in, coats 3 in
Each garment needs roughly an inch or more of rod depending on bulk. A double-hang closet stacks two rods so short items use the height instead of the length, nearly doubling capacity.
Allow a little space to slide hangers and pull clothes out.
Spacing varies with hanger type — slim velvet hangers fit more than bulky plastic or wood ones.
Double-hang sections work for shirts, folded pants, and skirts (about 40 in tall each); long items like dresses and coats need a single full-height rod.
Leave a few inches at each end of the rod for the bracket and easy access.
