Fixture Spacing Guide

Even lighting depends on spacing fixtures relative to their mounting height. The spacing-to-height ratio (SHR) sets the maximum gap for uniform coverage.

Distribution Spacing-to-height ratio
Narrow / direct 0.5 to 1.0
Medium 1.0 to 1.5
Wide / general 1.5 to 2.0
Indirect / troffer up to 1.5
The spacing rule. Maximum spacing = SHR × (mounting height − work-plane height). Exceed it and you get dark gaps between fixtures.
