Usage Tip

Hang a level ledger board first and rest the cabinets on it while you screw them to the studs — far easier than holding them up. Gang cabinets together before mounting.

THE MATH
Cabinets = floor((usable width + gap) ÷ (cabinet width + gap))
Usable width = wall length − reserved space
Leftover = usable width − space used
Garage wall cabinets are usually mounted high so the floor stays clear. Standard cabinet widths are 24, 30, and 36 in.
Reserve space for the garage door track, windows, outlets, and the opener.
Mount wall cabinets into studs — garage cabinets often hold heavy items, so use long screws or a ledger and find every stud.
Leave the bottom of upper cabinets about 16 to 18 in above a workbench, or roughly 6 ft off the floor for walk-under clearance.
Center the cabinet run on the wall, or split the leftover into equal end gaps so it looks intentional.
