Decimal Calculator

Convert a decimal to a simplified fraction and a percent. Enter the decimal.

As a Fraction
Simplified.

Usage Tip

Count the decimal places: two places means hundredths (over 100), three means thousandths (over 1000).

THE MATH
Fraction = decimal over a power of ten, then simplified
percent = decimal × 100
A terminating decimal is the digits over the matching power of ten (0.75 = 75/100), reduced to lowest terms.
Repeating decimals need a different method and are not handled exactly here.
Enter a terminating decimal; up to nine decimal places are used.
The fraction is reduced, and a mixed number is shown when the value exceeds one.
Repeating decimals (like 0.333…) give an approximate fraction.
