Cube Calculator

Find the volume, surface area, and space diagonal of a cube. Enter the edge length.

Volume
cu units
Edge cubed.

Usage Tip

The space diagonal (corner to corner) is longer than a face diagonal: edge times root 3 versus root 2.

THE MATH
volume = edge³, surface area = 6 × edge²
space diagonal = edge × √3
A cube has six equal square faces and twelve equal edges.
The space diagonal runs from one corner to the opposite corner through the interior.
Volume is the edge cubed; surface area is six times a face.
The space diagonal is the edge times the square root of 3 (about 1.732).
All edges and faces are equal.
